International Screenings for WHO WE LOVE

Who We Love had its North American premiere at the prestigious LGBTQ+ Outshine Film Festival in Miami where it was awarded the Best Feature Audience Award runner up in May.

This was followed up with a New York screening where the film was a New York Times Weekend Arts Pick. Amy-Joyce and director Graham Cantwell attended the screening and a Q&A at the New York Irish Centre on Sat June 11th, along with US cinematographers The Ray Sisters, with thanks to CraicFest and Culture Ireland.

At home in Ireland the film screened at the Catalyst International Film Festival. The Irish Film & Television Academy hosted a special Academy Screening and Q&A with director/co-writer Graham Cantwell, co-writer Katie McNeice, and actors Clara Harte, Dean Quinn and Amy-Joyce Hastings at the Lighthouse Cinema Dublin on 4th July 2022.

Who We Love was screened as part of a five-city Australian tour at Palace Cinemas in Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane, Perth and Canberra from 25 August – 25 September presented by Irish Film Festival Australia, where Cantwell, Harte and Hastings took place in a remote Q&A for the Australian premiere in Sydney.

Recently Who We Love screened at the blue riband LGBT event – the Iris Prize Festival in Wales on October 15 with Cantwell, McNeice, Harte and Hastings attending as guests of the festival.

FILMING WRAPPED ON ‘CLOSE TO NOTHING AT ALL’

Amy-Joyce has just wrapped filming Close to Nothing At All on location in Salzburg, Austria. The film is written and directed by Lisa Bröckl, produced by Saskia Eder for FH Salzburg with cinematography by Patrick Kamalzadeh. The hard hitting drama stars Amy-Joyce Hastings as Ava Collins alongside her onscreen family – Alicia Gerrard as Ailis, Andrea Kelly as Niamh, and Bill Murphy as Seán – the Collins family – with German actor Wolf Danny Homann (Michael) rounding out the ensemble cast. It is expected for completion in June 2019.

SAN FRANCISCO IRISH FILM FESTIVAL

Amy-Joyce attended the San Francisco Irish Film Festivalas a special guest, sponsored by Culture Ireland. She is pictured here with the festival director Kate Gunning, and being interviewed by UC Berkeley’s Professor of Irish Studies Catherine Flynn, following the screening of Irish Shorts at the Delancey Street Theater.

The shorts program was a particularly excellent curation by Frank Kelly and Róisin Hunt and Amy-Joyce Hastings’ multi award winning short QED was in great company in this lineup of films: Little Bird, Early Days, Time Traveler, Earthly Encounters, City of Roses, QED, Gustav, Rhinos and Wave.

She is most grateful to the festival sponsors Culture Ireland for a truly immersive cultural experience of Irish Cinema abroad. The final night screened two incredible Irish features back to back – Nora Twomey’s The Breadwinner and Frank Berry’s Michael Inside.

FROM MEXICO TO SCHULL

More great news for Amy-Joyce’s film QED which has won the Golden Palm Jury Award for Narrative Short Film at the Mexico International Film Festival!

Amy-Joyce is en route to beautiful Schull to support the film which is screening this week at the 10th Fastnet Film FestivalFastnet is a wonderfully intimate Irish film festival, which attracts the best of Irish filmmaking talent.

CANNES FILM FESTIVAL

Amy-Joyce is attending the Cannes Film Festival for the first time.

Her recent award winning film QED is screening as part of the Cannes Short Film Corner and she will attend a number of screenings and panels while at the festival.

‘INTERNATIONAL SHORT FILM AWARDS’ WINNER

Amy-Joyce Hastings has tonight won the inaugural Award for Best Original Content on Sky Television’s International Short Film Awards for her short film Body of Christ. The Awards Ceremony was held in Nottingham and will be broadcast on Sky Channel 212 on Monday 26th March at 22:00. Body of Christ
was commissioned by the Galway Film Centre (UNESCO City of Film). The film took home the Award for Best One Minute Film at the 7th Underground Cinema Film Festival, won 2nd place at the 28th Galway Film Fleadh’s One Minute Film Festival, and was nominated for the Micro Cinema Award at the Blackbird Film Festival in New York.

AMY-JOYCE HASTINGS WINS IN SANTA FE

Amy-Joyce Hastings’ film QED has won Best Overall Short film at the prestigious Santa Fe Film Festival 2018.  Amy-Joyce was in attendance at the festival for this was QED‘s International Premiere Screening.

This was her third trip to Santa Fe, where Lily previously won Best Narrative Short and a Courage in Cinema Award for its director Graham Cantwell.

Her first trip to Santa Fe was to promote the US Premiere of her feature film The Callback Queen at George R. R. Martin’s Jean Cocteau Cinema a couple of years ago.

Here she is pictured receiving the award from festival programmer Aaron Leventman, and with George R. R. Martin, Graham Cantwell and Ali McGirr.

LOS ANGELES TRIP

Amy-Joyce is currently in Los Angeles with her company Film Venture, for development of their forthcoming Lily feature film project. The short film version has screened at over 60 festivals worldwide, including top tier festivals such as Rhode Island International Film Festival, Festival International du Film d’Aubagne and the Savannah Film Festival.

It has won a plethora of awards, including Best Supporting Actress (Underground Cinema Awards) for Amy-Joyce, the Iris Prize Youth Award, the Tiernan McBride Award (Galway Film Fleadh), the Audi Dublin Film International Festival Best Short, as well as securing an IFTA Nomination for Graham Cantwell for Best Film and a Writer’s Guild of Ireland ‘Zebbie’ Best Screenplay Nomination.

The feature film production of this highly successful short is expected to be filmed in 2019.
