WHO WE LOVE World Premiere

Who We Love, a feature length adaptation of the IFTA nominated multi award winning short film Lily, will have its world premiere on Saturday 24th July at the 33rd Galway Film Fleadh. Amy-Joyce reprises her role as Oonagh, for which she won the Underground Cinema Best Supporting Actress Award in the short film version.

The LGBT drama is generating a lot of positive buzz ahead of its world premiere with previews on the RTE Six One News (below) and RTE.ie, as well as publications such as The Galway Advertiser, Scannáin and IFTN.

In addition both Amy-Joyce Hastings and Clara Harte were featured in the line up of ‘Women to Watch’ by Galway Now Magazine, and Harte has been nominated for the prestigious Bingham Ray New Talent Award at the 2021 Fleadh.

The film was directed by Graham Cantwell and the screenplay was written by Cantwell and Katie McNiece. The film stars Clara Harte, Dean Quinn, Amy-Joyce Hastings, Venetia Bowe, Danielle Galligan, Lynette Callaghan, Paul Ronan, Aisling O’Neill and Alison McGirr.

Cinematography was by American duo the Ray Sisters, and the film was produced by Cantwell, Alan Fitzpatrick and Edwina Forkin.

FILMING ‘LILY’ FEATURE

‘LILY’ FEATURE FILM

Amy-Joyce Hastings last night participated in a read through of the feature length script for Lily, set for production next year. The script was written by Graham Cantwell and Katie McNiece, based on the multi award winning short film of the same name. Amy-Joyce will be reprising her role as Oonagh in the much expanded feature length film. She won the 2017 Underground Cinema Best Supporting Actress Award for this role in the short film version.

AMY-JOYCE HASTINGS WINS IN SANTA FE

Amy-Joyce Hastings’ film QED has won Best Overall Short film at the prestigious Santa Fe Film Festival 2018.  Amy-Joyce was in attendance at the festival for this was QED‘s International Premiere Screening.

This was her third trip to Santa Fe, where Lily previously won Best Narrative Short and a Courage in Cinema Award for its director Graham Cantwell.

Her first trip to Santa Fe was to promote the US Premiere of her feature film The Callback Queen at George R. R. Martin’s Jean Cocteau Cinema a couple of years ago.

Here she is pictured receiving the award from festival programmer Aaron Leventman, and with George R. R. Martin, Graham Cantwell and Ali McGirr.

LOS ANGELES TRIP

Amy-Joyce is currently in Los Angeles with her company Film Venture, for development of their forthcoming Lily feature film project. The short film version has screened at over 60 festivals worldwide, including top tier festivals such as Rhode Island International Film Festival, Festival International du Film d’Aubagne and the Savannah Film Festival.

It has won a plethora of awards, including Best Supporting Actress (Underground Cinema Awards) for Amy-Joyce, the Iris Prize Youth Award, the Tiernan McBride Award (Galway Film Fleadh), the Audi Dublin Film International Festival Best Short, as well as securing an IFTA Nomination for Graham Cantwell for Best Film and a Writer’s Guild of Ireland ‘Zebbie’ Best Screenplay Nomination.

The feature film production of this highly successful short is expected to be filmed in 2019.

IRIS PRIZE FESTIVAL

Amy-Joyce attended the 11th Iris Prize Festival in Cardiff, Wales this week, where Lily was awarded the prestigious Youth Jury Prize at the Awards Ceremony, dubbed the ‘LGBT Oscars’. Read more about this story at IFTN.
